Survivor Story: Patricia Stewart

Neale & Patricia Stewart Apex, NC

Neale & Patricia Stewart
Apex, NC

I am currently battling Stage IV colon cancer. I was diagnosed in April 2010, had surgery in May, and chemo started in June. I just finished 12 rounds of chemo. I have a CT scan on Wednesday and a “state of the state” meeting with my doctors on Friday.

I am a child of God, a wife, Sister, Aunt, Granddaughter of a 104-year-old, insurance underwriter.

I am so humbled by the support of my husband, Neale, who is the most amazing man and best friend I could ever ask for. My family, friends, church and work families have been so good to me. My girlfriends are getting together an ever-expanding team called ‘Team Patty’ to participate in the Get Your Rear in Gear Raleigh 5K on March 5, 2011.

I don’t know what my future holds, truly no one but God knows that of any of us, but I know that God has a plan for me. I am truly, TRULY blessed. The one thing I know for sure is that no matter how much or how little time you have, it is NEVER enough so I try not to dwell on how much time, but on spending what I have doing what means the most to me. Also, I try to just put one foot in front of the other and keep doing it. Take one day at a time. ENJOY EVERY DAY as much as you can.
