He has run marathons throughout the world, including all seven continents. Smedsrud is the president of HealthCare.com, Inc. and serves on the board of several regional health care organizations.

Jack Abdo is an audit partner with Abdo, Eick & Meyers, LLP, with 20 years of experience auditing not-for-profit and for-profits. He is registered and licensed to practice as a CPA in Minnesota, Idaho, Pennsylvania and Florida and oversees all of the financial management for the Colon Cancer Coalition. Jack manages all of the Apple Valley and Edina office’s business audits and all audits regulated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, several nonprofits, and many OMB Circular A-133 audits. Jack sits on the boards of several for-profit and not-for-profit entities.
Lawrence Cappel | West Coast Chairman

Lawrence W. Cappel is founder and President/Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Health Alliance. Prior to coming to the Alliance, he served as the Administrative Director for Corporate Development at Sequoia Hospital, was the founder and Vice President of a twelve unit multi-state ambulatory care center company and a tenured Associate Professor of Health Administration, Planning and Health Behavior at California State University. He has also served on the faculties of the University of Utah and University of Washington, and was Director of Research and Planning for Salt Lake County Mental Health Services. He has a B.A. and M.A. in Education/Sociology from Humboldt State University, a Ph.D. in Community Health from the University of Utah, and two years post-doctoral study in Health Administration/Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Washington. Dr. Cappel serves as Treasurer on the Peninsula Health Care District Board of Directors, is a founder and managing director of a health care staffing company and is a member of the Board of Directors of three health care companies.

Randy has previously held VP Marketing roles at Del Taco, Buca di Beppo, Ruby’s Diner, and executive marketing positions at Arnold Palmer Golf Management and TGI Friday’s. He has also developed integrated advertising campaigns and brand strategies for such clients as Toshiba, Tommy Bahama, Red Robin, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, Wolfgang Puck and Robbins Brothers with ad agencies G&M Plumbing and Johnson Gray. As a Stage IV colon cancer cancer survivor, Randy was featured on CNN’s Special Investigation: Saving Your Life hosted by Dr. Sanjay Gupta as well as CBS HealthWatch™: Colorectal Cancer / Digestive Health Awareness Webcast hosted by Dr. Travis Stork of The Doctors. He serves on the Board of Directors for the California Restaurant Association – OC Chapter and is a Co-Founder and Board Member of Ophelia Jump Productions, a theatre company in Southern California that focuses on producing highly regarded, award winning works.
Kristin Lindquist | Board Member
Kristin Lindquist Tabor founded the Colon Cancer Coalition in 2005 to oversee Get Your Rear in Gear events across the country. Prior to developing the non-profit, she spent 15 years at Wells Fargo in executive management. Her diverse career background includes marketing, technology, process improvement strategy and human resources. She also served as a director for the National Fitness Campaign. Over the years, she has volunteered and raised thousands of dollars for other charitable organizations. She recently rode her bike 1300 miles from Minnesota to Washington D.C. to promote colon cancer awareness to notable politicians. Her goal continues to be to get America’s rears in gear. She continues to receive national awards that recognize her achievements, including the Wells Fargo National Volunteer Achievement Award and the David Jagelman, MD, Award for Advocacy in Colorectal Cancer from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Matt Flory | Board Member

Matt Flory has worked for the American Cancer Society for nearly 14 years. In his current position he promotes cancer screening by building evidence-based partnerships with health insurance plans, health care providers and public health organizations. Matt has a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota.
Kirsten Freiborg | Board Member
Young On-Set Colorectal Cancer Survivor

Kirsten Freiborg was diagnosed with colon cancer when she was just 22, one month before graduating from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Business Administration. With no family history of colon cancer, her stage III diagnosis came as a complete shock to her and a surprise to her doctors. At the time, she was the youngest patient her physicians had seen diagnosed with colon cancer. Kirsten is now using her story of surviving young-onset colorectal cancer to encourage awareness and screening and inspire other young patients like herself.
