The Colon Cancer Coalition was officially incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit in Minnesota in 2006, but truly started with the planning of the first Get Your Rear in Gear 5K race in the fall of 2004 and gained traction with the success of that first event in March 2005.
Recognizing that many others had a similar desire to create awareness events for colon cancer, we decided to expand our reach and work with volunteers and others to create Get Your Rear in Gear branded events across the United States.
Working from our successful model in the Twin Cities, we created a network of events that we help manage and support throughout the country. We offer those committed to creating awareness in their community a proven blueprint for success, saving organizers time, money, and energy to invest in the success of their local event. As our network of events grows, we have the opportunity to share ideas, strategies, marketing tools, and buying power amongst our event leaders, sponsors, volunteers, and participants.
By joining forces with other like-minded partners to bring education and increased screening rates for colon cancer, we believe that we can prevent, treat, and beat this disease.
