In Loving Memory: Fred Steinberg

Survived by Wife, Roberta; Daughter, Andrea; Granddaughters, Lia and Kayla; Son, Michael; Son-in-law, Ronald

My dad was always afraid of doctors and even though we begged him, he would not go for a colonoscopy. He always worked one full-time job and at least one part-time job, while volunteering as an Auxilliary Police Officer, and holding many offices within his lodge, the Knights of Pythias and the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.

steinbergEven with his colostomy, he would sit on the floor and play for hours with his granddaughters. They adored him. He was very patient with them, and never raised his voice with them. He was truly their best friend.

He kicked himself over and over when he realized (too late) that if he had just gotten the colonoscopy he would have been fine. He would have liked everyone to know that the colonoscopy is no big deal and we should encourage everyone, who should get one, to get one. He also enjoyed life, moment by moment – truly savoring the day.

I miss him everyday. Not being able to call him when one of my daughters does or says something funny or crazy just breaks my heart.
