Here at the Colon Cancer Coalition, we recognize that there are numerous ways to support colorectal cancer survivors/patients, caregivers, and their families. That’s why we support various programs that help the colorectal cancer community in a variety of ways. One of these ways is sponsoring children of colorectal cancer patients to attend Camp Kesem, a free overnight summer camp designed for children ages 6 to 18 who are impacted by a parent’s cancer diagnosis.
Camp Kesem is comprised of 115 chapters in 41 states across the U.S., and is hosted on college campuses led by passionate college students. These volunteers work alongside alumni and supporters to create experiences and connections where children can process, connect, heal, and thrive.
This unique camp experience provides fun-filled activities and a supportive community, helping kids navigate anxiety, isolation, and uncertainty, reminding them that they are never alone. Camp Kesem utilizes nurses, mental health professionals, and other experienced staff to support their counselors and campers.
While each Camp Kesem is different, every day at each of their locations is an opportunity for campers to try something new, make great friends, and have fun!
