We are North America’s largest run/walk event series dedicated to raising awareness and funds to fight colorectal cancer at a grassroots level.
You’ve heard the cheeky name – but there’s more than meets the eye (or inflatable colon). With your support and donations, we implement local change in communities across North America to fight this disease. It’s more than just a run or walk; our events are a movement to make a meaningful impact and support those who need it most.
Money raised at each event is used to fund each community’s specific needs, ensuring our support is tailored to the unique needs of local patients and survivors.
Get Your Rear in Gear is about more than a healthy lifestyle; we connect patients, survivors, caregivers, advocates, and healthcare providers to build a network and community of support wherever we go.
Colorectal cancer can be a taboo topic. By using words like “colorectal” and “colonoscopy” in everyday language, we can overcome fear and save lives from this preventable disease.
Whether you run, walk, volunteer, sponsor, or generally support, there’s a place for everyone at a Get Your Rear in Gear event.
Fund colon cancer screening, education, and patient support for your community.

I feel that Get Your Rear In Gear is a time every year to come together and support each other. We all have our own battles going on whether it is dealing with the loss of a loved one or supporting someone who is in the fight for their life.

I used to volunteer at the race. In November 2015, my husband was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. We decided to start our first team the next year in 2016. He loved the race and always loved being the top fundraising team and biggest team! After he died in July 2020, it was really important to the kids to keep up our team and fundraising efforts in his memory. Each year I ask them if they still want to have a team and they look at me as if I’m crazy-like, why wouldn’t we?

We participate because we want detection protocols to improve and primary care physicians to be better educated in signs and symptoms for early detection!

I attend Get Your Rear in Gear because it gives me a sense of hope that one day there will be a cure for colon cancer. I also support this event because I truly believe colonoscopies prevented me from having colon cancer and I want to support colonoscopies being given to individuals in the Wichita community.

Get Your Rear in Gear is so important to me because I firmly believe that early detection is key. Listening to your body is crucial—you know it better than anyone else, and if something doesn’t seem right, get it checked! I have participated in every local Get Your Rear in Gear to date. It’s important to me to raise awareness and provide education around screening options, honor those in their fight, and remember those we’ve lost to this terrible disease. I also want people to know that they are not alone in their journey—together, we can offer support, hope, and strength to everyone affected.
