You are the power behind our events and leaders of your communities! Being a Team Captain can seem like a tall order, but rest assured, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
That’s why we’ve compiled these tips & tricks to help you kick-start your recruitment and rally supporters!
- ASK
- Compile a list of who you want to join your team — friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, etc.
- Write down and refine your WHY — Why do you participate?
- Speak from the heart — tell them why they should join you, why this matters, what their joining will help you achieve (goals, supporting the mission, etc).
- Use social media, emails, texts, phone calls, or in-person conversations, depending on what your comfort level is.
- Once they’ve committed, challenge them to make the ask to their networks. Who can they ask to join? The more the merrier and the further your mission can go!
- SHARE
- Ask your Event Manager for a team flyer! Our staff will make a custom flyer highlighting your team, event details, team name, and a custom QR code that goes directly to your team’s efforts.
- Share this flyer digitally and in person — coffee shops, break rooms, community gathering spaces, etc. Think of it as an open invitation to bring the community together in support of your efforts.
- GATHER
- Throw a kick-off party and rally people to join your efforts! Whether it’s a happy hour, meet-up, lawn game event, or a partnership with a local restaurant — the possibilities are endless! Pairing an experience with recruitment is a fun way to get people involved and excited.
- Extra Tip: talk with your Event Manager about how we can support this effort — from posters to sending swag items — we’re here to help add finishing touches!
- REVIEW
- Take time to reflect on your efforts and reach out to your Event Manager to set up time for individual support. They will help you review your progress and brainstorm new ideas.
Above all else, have confidence! Remember that you’ve got this, and we’re here to support and celebrate YOU! Your efforts and advocacy make an impact in your community. Don’t be afraid to ask your networks for support and spread the word of awareness.
Thank you for your leadership and support!
