Get Your Rear in Gear – Asheville, 2026
The Get Your Rear in Gear – Asheville community showed extraordinary strength in their return this year. After pausing Get Your Rear in Gear in 2025 in the wake of Hurricane Helene, seeing everyone come back together this year for the 10th anniversary event was deeply moving. The resilience, compassion, and commitment shown by the Asheville community reminds us why these events matter so much💙

Local Event Director, Lindsay Riggs (Right)
The Inaugural Get Your Rear in Gear – Buffalo event was started this year by colorectal cancer survivor, Lindsay Riggs, who’s also a local influencer, mom of 3, and advocate.
“This happened to me, and I want others to be aware that it can happen to any of us.”
When Lindsay was 40, she experienced a sharp pain in her abdomen and went to the hospital, where she found out that she had colon cancer with a tumor perforating her colon wall. Lindsay had no family history of colorectal cancer.
After undergoing surgery and chemo at Roswell Park, Lindsay is now cancer-free and using her voice to share her experience and encourage people to get colonoscopies.

“It’s like our mammograms,” Lindsay says. “We talk so openly about those, but not as openly as those. I’ll talk about poop all day long. The goal is you need to advocate for your health. Listen to your body. I don’t care if it’s one tiny symptom; you go.”
Get Your Rear in Gear – Buffalo’s goal was to bring together the entire Western NY area to raise awareness and funds to combat colorectal cancer! And thanks to the amazing community of survivors, patients, family, friends, volunteers, and sponsors — they did just that!
A special thank you to Get Your Rear in Gear – Buffalo’s presenting sponsors: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Univera Healthcare!

Get Your Rear in Gear – Houston, 2025
Get Your Rear in Gear – Houston is celebrating its 15th anniversary event on November 7th!
Get Your Rear in Gear – Houston is led by Local Event Director, CCC Board Member, and Survivorship Council Board Liaison, Allison Rosen.
At the age of 32, after years of struggling with Crohn’s disease, Allison’s life was disrupted when a colonoscopy revealed stage II colorectal cancer. Since 2017, she has been working in outreach, education, and prevention in the field of colorectal cancer.
Allison is now cancer-free and a passionate advocate both inside and outside of work!
