Get Your Rear in Gear – Columbia, 2024

Get Your Rear in Gear – Charleston kicks off our 2026 event season along with Get Your Rear in Gear – Austin on February 28th, led by Local Event Director Marielle McLeod, a colorectal cancer (CRC) survivor who works for Cancer Hope Network. Cancer Hope Network is our partner for our new peer mentorship program, Allies of Hope! Marielle is passionate about supporting patients and survivors, as well as giving them a place to come together as a community. She’s excited to bring a Get Your Rear in Gear race to her city!

Get Your Rear in Gear – San Francisco Bay Area, 2024

Our next new event is Get Your Rear in Gear – Fresno, joining our Get Your Rear in Gear events in California alongside San Francisco and Orange County. Two groups in Fresno, Central California Endoscopy Center and Community Medical Center (CMC), saw the need for an event in their community and made it happen! Special shoutout to Catherine Larson of CMC and Cindy Vasquez of Central California Endoscopy, we thank you for everything that you do!

Get Your Rear in Gear – Charlotte, 2025

Our third new event of the season, and their third year as an event, Greenville is transitioning from a Fundraise Your Way to join us as a Get Your Rear in Gear in 2026! Led by Local Event Director Dr. Jammula and a team of gastroenterologists, Get Your Rear in Gear – Greenville joins Charleston and Columbia as the third race in South Carolina. (That’s a lot of threes)! We’re eager to have an even more robust coverage of the Carolinas.

Get Your Rear in Gear – Orlando, 2025

Don’t get them mixed up — Get Your Rear in Gear – Gainesville follows Greenville by kicking off their first year in April. Led by Local Event Director Jami Nordenstam, Jami was inspired to get involved by her husband, Johan, a colorectal surgeon. They both see firsthand the need for more awareness and funding in the Gainesville community, and are now working to make it happen!

Get Your Rear in Gear – Grand Rapids, 2025

Moving away from the coasts and heading into the Midwest, Get Your Rear in Gear – Detroit crosses the finish line on Belle Isle, a beautiful park island on Lake Huron. Did you know that Belle Isle is older and larger than Central Park in New York City? Although Detroit’s spring weather can be a bit unpredictable, we’re hoping that the “April Showers Bring May Flowers” saying rings true. Get Your Rear in Gear – Detroit is led by Local Event Director Dr. Sumair Ahmad, a gastroenterologist at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit’s partner and sponsor. We thank both Dr. Ahmad and Henry Ford Hospital for helping us expand our reach to meet the needs of the colorectal cancer community in Detroit!

Get Your Rear in Gear – Philadelphia, 2018

You might remember our Get Your Rear in Gear – Philadelphia race from previous years, and although we’re elated to be back in Pennsylvania with Get Your Rear in Gear – Main Line, we’re positive that this race is altogether new! Located in Wayne, PA, on the outskirts of Northern Philly, Get Your Rear in Gear – Main Line will be sponsored by Olympus Corporation of the Americas and promises to amaze all those who attend!

LED Robert Stricklin & Get Your Rear in Gear – Twin Cities, 2024

Get Your Rear in Gear – Rochester is also a reactivated event, and the second event in our home state of Minnesota! Led by Local Event Director, survivor, and Survivorship Council Member Robert Stricklin and his wife, Ivy, Robert is our first-ever dual-city LED, leading not only Rochester but also Get Your Rear in Gear – Charlotte! Why the addition, you might ask? Robert and Ivy recently moved from Charlotte to Rochester and wanted to help reactivate this once 12-year-old event! We’re also over the moon about Get Your Rear in Gear – Rochester’s partnership with Mayo Clinic — one of the best healthcare systems in the world!

Get Your Rear in Gear – New Hampshire, 2025

Expanding to a whole new state, Get Your Rear in Gear – Connecticut is led by Local Event Director Kristin Papanos from Hartford Healthcare. Kristin’s hope is to bring more awareness to colorectal cancer in Connecticut, and Hartford Healthcare is hoping that Get Your Rear in Gear – Connecticut will become a collaborative effort with other healthcare providers in the state. Truly building upon what community means!

Get Your Rear in Gear – New York, 2024, & LED Lindsey Riggs

Finishing off our run of new 2026 events strong, Get Your Rear in Gear – Buffalo joins Get Your Rear in Gear – New York as the second New York event! Led by Local Event Director, CRC patient, and Survivorship Council Member Lindsey Riggs, we know that Buffalo will be in excellent hands! Lindsey’s desire for a Get Your Rear in Gear event in her hometown was what sparked the beginning of Get Your Rear in Gear – Buffalo, a city known as the “City of Good Neighbors” due to its history of fostering a strong sense of community and demonstrating neighborliness in times of need. Lindsey even launched her own campaign this past March to raise awareness and funds for colorectal cancer, partnering with local businesses and giving back to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, where Lindsey currently receives treatment. You can read more about her campaign Here.

It’s due to the heart and drive of each of our wonderful volunteers and partners that Get Your Rear in Gear can continue to grow within colorectal cancer communities across the country. We are thousands strong, spanning across over 30 states — including the Bahamas — and we will continue to band together in the fight against colorectal cancer for as long as there is a need.

“This silent disease that I was introduced to is no longer silent.”

– Audrea Norris, survivor & Get Your Rear in Gear – Charlotte participant.
