In Loving Memorgy: Debra James

She was my mother and my inspiration

My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroendocrine carcinoma. She passed away two weeks and 5 days after diagnosis, she was 46 when she died.

She was my mother, a loving one at that; she was an amazing photographer with an eye to capture the beauty in anything.  You can see her work at nativelightphoto.com.  She was also an amazing wife.  She made her husband Ron the happiest man around.  Too happy almost, cheesy happy.  In fact, when Mom and Ron were around it was a pretty good sap fest, but one you could not only smile about, but one you’re jealous of as well.  She inspired me to become a musician, first with the piano, and then teaching me my first two chords on the guitar.  She was a veteran and raised three veterans as well.  She was political, but not the political type that makes you grumble and frown; nope she was the type to start up a heated colorful debate that never got out of hand and would often end with smiles and drinks all around.  She could make you think when you’re mute and cool you down when you’re too loud.  She was a great person full of life and inspiration.

She was an exuberant person who took advantage of life.  Her special message would have been that there are too many great things to take advantage of in this world to be cooped up in a house or behind a desk.  My honor to her with Get Your Rear in Gear is to take advantage of the life that was taken from her.
