It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Barb Waters. While she was a cherished member of our community and a beacon of light in the fight against colon cancer– she was also our family.
Barb’s own journey with colorectal cancer was filled with resilience, compassion, and an unrelenting commitment to making a difference for others navigating their colorectal cancer diagnosis. You never felt alone with Barb.
And Barb’s advocacy extended far beyond her own diagnosis. As a dedicated supporter and advocate for the Colon Cancer Coalition and Colontown, she championed awareness and early detection, ensuring her voice resonated with countless individuals. Her story, like so many others, emphasizes the importance of listening to our bodies and becoming our own fiercest advocate.
Those who knew Barb remember her as a place of joy—a woman whose humor, kindness, and warmth left an undeniable mark. She brought life to every event she attended, including just this October at our Get Your Rear in Gear – Twin Cities event, embodying a spirit that uplifted everyone around her.
Her loss reminds us of the extent to which colon cancer takes, but also of the incredible strength and impact one person can have. Barb’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the awareness she raised, and the hope she inspired. While we grieve her passing, we celebrate her life and the countless ways she made the world brighter.
In her memory, let us continue the work she held so dear: raising awareness, supporting those affected, and striving for a future where no family loses a loved one to colon cancer.
We’ll miss you, Barb
