I wanted to let you know how sorry I am at the the losses everyone has had to all cancers, but most of all colon cancer.
My son was 21 at the time was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in December of 2007, he underwent surgery to remove his colon and in January underwent eight months of serious chemotherapy for preventive measures.
In August, he started getting pains back in his stomach. In November, he was said to have an ulcer in his stomach. He underwent a colonoscopy and everything was said to be fine. Later in August because the pain was so bad an endoscopic procedure was done and found he had cancer in the stomach and the small intestines. He was admitted and the Whipple Procedure was done in September.
Kevin was diagnosed with Liver cancer at this time as well. he stayed in the hospital until November, and was even receiving chemo while in the hospital. Kevin came home November 19, 2008 and was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with his friends and family.
On Christmas Eve 2008 Kevin was readmitted with jaundice and dehydration, while in the hospital Kevin took a turn and the cancer spread in a matter of days to his stomach, spleen, pancreas and lungs.
On January 6, 2009, Kevin was moved to critical care and told us to contact family that he only had a week or so left to live, we brought Kevin home January 9, 2009 at 8:00p.m. and he passed away January 11, 2009 at 4:00 a.m. from Colon and Gastric cancer.
This was my baby, my life and my inspiration. To live without him, I have nothing. I miss his smile, his smell and his laugh, but I know he’s in a better place.
I have a severe bad back, but I will walk as long as I can March 7th in Raleigh for my son with Cancer Centers of North Carolina. I will walk for Kevin along with my tears and prayers that there will be a cure.
