Training Notes:
Download the ATLAS app to help raise money for Get Your Rear in Gear – San Francisco and increasing colon cancer screening in the Bay Area on your training runs too! ATLAS is a community driven app that allows users to raise money for important causes (like colon cancer screening!) by working with corporate sponsors. It’s no extra out of your pocket, but puts cents in ours for every mile you run or walk!
Join us on Saturdays for group runs and some advice on running topics, form, preparation and cool downs. Then follow the 5K training program during the week to continue progressing to the 5K (3.1 miles) distance. There will not be a group run on Saturday, July 8, use that day as a rest day and get your body prepared for the race the next day.
Saturday training runs are scheduled to start promptly at 8 a.m. at the site of the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K run. Times and locations are subject to change.
About Cross Training : Cross training is needed to supplement running and help develop other muscles that are not used when running, but are needed to support you through training. Runners need to mix up training by doing different types of work outs such as strength training, bicycling, swimming, yoga, and Pilates, to name a few, as a way to supplement the training runs.
